Ngupi Farm visited Gelykfontein Stud in search for a top Nguni Bull when Louisa fell in love with the Cape Lob Ear goat breed during this visit. Louisa immediately thereafter purchased her first twenty ewes and one ram from Gelykfontein Stud. Nineteen of those ewes and the ram is still well and kicking after four years. All twenty would have been alive today if it was not due to our team's inexperience. This is a show of the hardiness of the breed not only in dry karoo environments but also in wetter grassland areas.

The establishment of the cape Lob Ear (IVG) as a breed boast well for the breed going forward and more so with the bigger carcass and general traits of the Cape Lob Ear. Ngupi Farm since the first purchases of its herd visited, selected and purchased the best genetics from some of the top Cape Lob Ear breeders across southern Africa.

Ngupi Farm currently has more than 50 stud approved and registered Cape Lob Ear Goats in its breading heard of 150 plus ewes. Most of these animals were breed and born on the Dalmunitha farm close to Machadodorp.
Ngupi Farm has adopted three breeding cycles per year for its goats to ensure optimal lamming as well as a steady stream of lams throughout the year.
