THE FARM

Ngupi Farm currently has over 220 goats and 580 cattle in its various herds.

The goats are farmed in a semi-intensive breeding system where the rams are kept in the kraals and the ewes are allowed to forage during the day in the open fields on the farm.

The goat breeds consist of indigenousness Cape (Xhosa) Lob Ear and Kalahari Red goat breeds. Each breed has its selected stud and commercial animals. These animals are bred for their meat qualities and durability.

The cattle are farmed within an intensive breeding cycle of one year. The various breeds consist of Pinzgauer (Premium Tender Beef) and Droughtmaster animals.

The cattle breeds consist of Pinzgauer, Droughtmaster and Nguni breeds being stud and commercial animals. The Pinzgauer and Droughtmaster is bred for their excellent meat quality and hardiness. The Ngunis is bred and crossbred for their hardiness and excellent longevity.
