KALAHARI RED

The Kalahari Red goats were introduced to the farm during 2021 after a visit to a Kalahari Red breed auction to learn more about the successful and exceptional marketing awareness. We immediately saw the value of the breed during this auction. We also purchased our first ewe and lams from Louis Lingenfelder and the now well-known ewe Blapsie.

Ngupi Farm then visited the more prominent breeders to learn from them and purchased some of the top ewes, rams and sperm from selected celebrated established breeders.

The Kalahari Rad breed is well established and a breed in demand for its exceptional growth and meat quality. The breed has an exceptional fertility and laming ability. These two traits are already well proven with up to three lams at birth within each breeding cycle.

The ewes recover quickly after birth and is exceptional in their mother skills.

It is a easy animal to work with from grooming to checking numbers every day. Their eating habits is well adapted to our environment and they enjoy long walks during the day.

There are currently more than 80 top breeding ewes in the herd.

Ngupi Farm has adopted three breeding cycles per year for its goats to ensure optimal lamming as well as a steady stream of lams throughout the year.
